Cervico Headache

Cervico or cervical headaches are often caused by chronic neck problems. The cervical part of your spine consists of seven vertebrae starting at the base of the skull. In between each vertebrae is a cushioning disc. If any disc becomes damaged from an accident or whiplash, the injury can cause painful headaches, especially if the nerves in the cervical spine are compressed.

If you think you have cervico headaches, see your doctor for X-rays and other diagnostic tests. You might be a candidate for endoscopic neck surgery at The Bonati Institute, or you might be able to manage your headaches with other forms of therapy.

Symptoms of the Cervico Headache

Symptoms include pain that starts at the base of the skull and spreads toward the forehead, temples, or behind the eyes. Previous trauma may be a cause of your cervico headaches, or it can be caused by degenerating vertebrae. Your condition can be made worse by holding your neck in a misaligned position over time.

Dr. Alfred Bonati is the originator of several endoscopic procedures for cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spinal surgeries. While other surgeons have trained on his techniques, he has been performing them continually since 1982. Bonati was the first to apply these techniques and is the surgeon with the most experience in them. At the Bonati Institute, we can review your MRI and provide you with a written opinion as to whether you are a candidate for this surgery. Please contact us today for detailed information.
