Cervical Decompression

Wear and tear on the vertebrae in your neck, a ruptured disk, or bone spurs can all cause your spinal cord nerves to become compressed, which may lead to pain in your neck and arms. Cervical decompression is a procedure that relieves the pressure on your spinal nerves. This condition is usually diagnosed with the help of an MRI scan and can be treated with surgery if necessary.

Here at The Bonati Institute, we perform a procedure called the Bonati Laser Cervical Decompression. We enter through the back of your neck and remove bone spurs or ligaments that compress your spinal cord and nerves. While you lie on your stomach, we give you an IV sedative and local anesthesia and use special instruments to decompress your spine.

Cervical Decompression to Relieve Pain

During the Bonati Laser Cervical Decompression procedure, we can also remove ruptured discs or other abnormal tissue that is putting pressure on your vertebrae. The exact cause of your trouble could be several different conditions, but the results are the same: something is pressing on your spinal nerves, narrowing the spinal canal, and causing pain or numbness in your neck or arms.

Should you require surgery to correct your cervical decompression, there is no better place to have it done than at The Bonati Institute in Florida. Dr. Alfred Bonati engineered special surgical instruments and pioneered arthroscopic spine surgery. We use a local anesthetic and small incisions, so you will have a much less risky operation and a shorter recovery time than with other types of surgery. You can get back to your normal life quicker, free of the pain of cervical compression.
