Bulging Disk Pain

Patients at The Bonati Institute often feel the pain of a bulging spinal disk radiating through their legs, feet, or arms. Like other types of pain, the severity of your bulging disk pain does not indicate how severe your condition is. For example, a severe injury may cause no pain, while a simple one may involve serious pain. Pain is both emotional and physical and is highly personal. Some people can tolerate more pain than others.

Analgesics, drugs that reduce pain, usually work by interfering with the transmission of pain signals through the nervous system. They may be prescribed as tablets, liquids, skin patches, or injections. This is a less aggressive way to treat bulging disks that doctors will usually try first. They will also prescribe rest, anti-inflammatories, and epidural injections before recommending surgery.

Cutting out Bulging Disk Pain

At The Bonati Insitute, we may be able to deal with your pain surgically if your bulging disk causes persistent problems. Through a thorough medical history and diagnostic process, we will determine whether your pain is caused by a bulging disk, herniated disk, arthritis in your spine, or other condition. Even if previous surgeries have failed, our patented procedures can relieve nerve compression, a common reason for back pain.

If pain has not resolved with other therapies after three months, or if disk ruptures (herniates), one of our minimally invasive procedures may help. The Bonati Laser Discectomy is where we remove a diseased disk with the help fiber optic instruments. Please contact us today to learn more.
