Bone Scans

The Bonati Institute doctors believe that the key to successful treatment of your spinal condition begins with a thorough diagnosis. Our physicians examine bone scans such as X-rays, MRI, or CT scans before deciding whether our surgeries will be helpful for you. If you think we might be able to help you, you can send us a recent scan film (less than 12 months old) for us to examine.

When you come to The Bonati Institute, your visit will begin with a thorough examination to determine the source of your pain. We use a variety of tests and and instruments to assess your health condition. For example, our diagnostic services department often uses our open MRI machine to take a current bone scan while examining you. MRI scans are useful for showing alignment, nerve compression, disc height, and whether there is narrowing of the spinal cord.

Scans to Reveal Bone and Tissue Abnormalities

CT scans are another immensely important tool to diagnose spinal problems, because they show small bones and soft tissue such as muscles and blood vessels. They can help us determine the extent of spinal stenosis or ruptured discs, for example.

The Bonati Institute uses diagnostic tests to examine bones and soft tissues. Many back problems are caused by disc problems, scar tissue, undiagnosed musculoskeletal conditions, or portions of the spine pressing on your spinal nerves. If you have experienced any of these conditions, consider a preoperative consultation with The Bonati Institute to determine whether you are a good candidate for any of our procedures.
